Sorry, I don't know if you use OS X so the following might be irrelevant.

The "Enhanced Find Dialog" (OS X only) - downloadable from the above URL -
allows (in addition to the usual Search/Replace functions on text windows)
for changing the names of the files you have selected in Finder, and it
supports regular expressions. Actually, a cool self-explanatory menu allows
to enter regular expressions without learning the first word about them.
