Markus, I just have been testing Akua Sweets (for another purpose) but I
think that it has commands for doing this. Check it out to be sure (I know
there are some icon commands there...I just don't know the dictionary well
enough to tell you if it will do what you wish.)

But, if you are interested in a mediated method, then check out Icon2Gif,
which doesn't preserve the "icon" status, but gets the image.
