with my icon problem, especially Richard23.

unfortunately however, in 10.2.2 none of these and similar codes seem
to work

tell app "Finder" to set icon of file 1 to icon of file 2
as the finder returns the property icon as missing value which it then
refuses to copy or past anywhere.
i have however been able to get the icon file by using X-Commands 0.95
from David Lloyd, which can be downloaded from www.kanzu.com.
(unfortunately it's code is not available, and so i still don't know
how it's done, but anyway, it works). for a simpler way, i think we
shall have to wait until apple makes the icon scriptable.
again, thanks to all who tried to help out (and improved my scripting
by the way)
yours
markus

"But i don't want to go among mad people," Alice remarked.
"Oh, you can't help that," said the Cat: "we're all mad here.
I'm mad, You're mad."
"How do you know I'm mad?" said Alice.
"You must be," said the Cat, "or you wouldn't have come here."
