Try shortening down your date stamp. Old military habit that carried over: I use reverse 6 digit dates on all my business documents and receipts, like this:
021209 Quote for Bisconti.txt
02 = 2002
12 = December
09 = 9th day of December

They all auto-sort by date readily that way, too...

As for the hidden name extension as a number, hmmm... No good answer (sorry).
