QuickTime scripts acting flaky

I recently ported an OS9 script for OSX that attaches associated text
tracks to the movie. Everything seems to be working. However, the
resulting files have the volume set to "0". The script has nothing that
would indicate that kind of instruction. Maybe there is some "simple"
explanation. I just can't think of what that would be! Any ideas?
