Modem Scriptable???

Computer environment: MAC G4 867 DP "Stock Modem" MacOS X.2.2
I have a FileMaker 6 contact database which has a phone field. In FMP, the
script step "Dial Phone Number" is not supported in OS X.
Is there an Applescript to take a value from a field and have the MODEM dial
it. In other words, is the stock modem scriptable in my G4? I can handle
making sure the number in FMP is in the correct format for dialing.
