Get disk size from choosing a folder .... OSX

Hello,
I have a applescript that will write out a file to a "choose folder
with prompt" statement but I want to place a hook in the process that
makes sure the disk to which the file is being added to has enough disk
space. I'm getting the file size info just fine, but when I do a "get
size from folder" statement it gives me the size of the folder and if I
do a "get free space" it only works if it's the disk.
