Every window can have a 'text area' as well as a text field, and every UI
element has a 'selected' property, plus the Text Suite is implemented.

I would think that - one way or another - you'll be able to get selected
text and put it on the clipboard with the standard addition ''set the
clipboard".

But it's easier than that: if the application supports Copy (cmd-C) and
Paste (cmd-V) with the usual keyboard shortcuts then you can use:

keystroke reference -- the object for the command
[with command down/option down/control down/shift down] --
modifiers with which the keystrokes are to be entered

So:

keystroke "c" with command down -- copy

keystroke "v" with command down -- paste

in the front application.

It's Sigma's Additions (or Sandi's Additions) built in. Simple as that.
