Just reporting a dead-end ...
Like our beloved HyperCard, I thought that (perhaps) embedding a password
font in the script might work, replacing the default type face for the
display dialog.
A display dialog script (both a compiled and application version) functions
fine with an added FONT and NFNT resource, but, alas, the dialog doesn't use
the added resource.
I feel like there must be some way to ResEdit the code to use the non-system
default font. But I don't speak Hex, so...
Good luck. (And don't forget HyperCard when needing an interface...it's
blazing fast on modern Macs and can do almost anything...I still use it very
frequently since AS doesn't offer interface options ... except
DialogDirector and the like...and it'll do password masking using a password
typeface, which is what I use...all bullets...called Password 9).
