it's a hidden option: open your ~/Library/Preferences/
com.apple.finder.plist in a text editor, or with PropertyListEditor if
you have the Dev Tools installed, and under StandardViewOptions dictionay
under Nlsv is a "labl" column that is set not visible. Change the
visible to 1 and log out and back in and windows with the default view
have a Label column. But there's nothing there for ANY file.

Something like that is what I want to do, I just can't get the Label
property for all those old files that already have labels.
