The issue of what is found for a given tell is very convoluted. And with
Mac OS X in the mix, I have no idea what the specification is.
But...even giving a full path in the tell statement has never guaranteed
that that application would be the one which actually ran (or would be what
the statement decompiled into the next time the Script Editor showed it to
you).
--John (who once--through multiple steps--caused AppleScript to tell
the system to launch a Think C project file as if it were an application
<it's not an application, and launching it doesn't go well at all)
