About a year after he disappeared, JD made very brief reappearance on the
OneClick mailing list...

Ah, so he's most likely OK then.

...I once wrote JD privately because I
noticed that one of the script examples he had on his website gave an
incorrect serial number for a Steinway piano of a particular year...

And you actually noticed? ;-) I thought I was into trivia... ;-P

...(I'm a pianist myself, and know a bit about this.)...

Yeah, Nigel mentioned to me that you're a musician. I don't suppose you're vegetarian too are you? If so, we could conceivably form the only trio in the known universe consisting entirely of AppleScripting vegetarians! That is so bizarre - I like it. There do seem to be a lot of musicians involved in programming and other mathematically oriented pursuits. Have you noticed that?

I know Nigel's field is classical percussion & given that you describe yourself as a pianist and know Steinways so well, I figure you could also be a classical player. I've been mainly singing and playing (guitar) in soul & blues bands in recent years, but we could perhaps find common ground in some form of jazz.

Maybe Sal or one of the Chris's could get us a gig at an upcoming Macworld. I'll play for free if Apple can cover the airfare...

..but [JD] had not bothered to check his Steinway manual when he
made up that example...

Tsk, tsk... ;-)

Cheers,

Richard Morton
