Maybe I should have mentioned this in reply to Michelle's "a (any)" editor.
I am not sure why launching Script Editor would "start" AppleScript to any
extent. I suppose that Michelle's post was in fact about launching Smile.
Smile definitely uses AppleScript to get running. But AFAIK Script Editor
does not use AppleScript until you have it compile or run a script, or open
a dictionary.
I'd bet you could launch Script Editor with the AppleScript extension missing.
