Hello
I am a rookie!! That said, I have spent an entire day and most of the
weekend trying to find an applescript that I could modify. I am a certified
member of the 'cut and paste method' of script writing. I hope that someday
I can leave that club but for now...here is my problem:
We receive many .pdf type files daily at our newspaper. 99% of them are fine
or can be fixed easily if not. There is one type of submitted .pdf file
(submitted by our customers) that kills our output device and the paginated
page everytime we place it. If a customer somehow chooses Calibrated Gray in
the original image, the resulting, distilled .pdf file causes us problems.
I can open .pdf files using a text editor (TexEdit) and identify using the
search for CalGray. however, it is impractical and dangerous to have folks
here open files possibly damaging them permanantly.
I am desperately trying to find/modify an applescript (drag and drop) that
will search for and alert a user for this CalGray type. Can someone point me
to the right direction. I am willing to put in some work to do this for our
people here. Just need a little direction.
