copying styled text from TextEdit

  • Subject: copying styled text from TextEdit

Hello.

I want to keep the style of some text from a TextEdit document that I am copying to the clipboard with applescript, but when I try, the clipboard always just shows plain text. Even the carriage returns are gone - I think that they have been replaced by unix characters in the copied text.

If I copy the text using the copy command in the edit menu, the text on the clipboard keeps the style, so it's obviously possible. I just don't know the magic words.

I am trying to copy the text with the clipboard commands in the standard additions. The line that doesn't work properly looks like this:

set the clipboard to every paragraph of text of document 1 as styled text

I also tried to put the text into a variable, but that didn't work either.

I should probably mention that the TextEdit document had some pictures in, but I didn't want to copy them. I would be very grateful if anyone could help with this, as I'm sure it should be easier than I am making it.

Thank you

Camilla
