I guess it's not *that* big a deal since I've now been using either
Smile or SD for 6 months and haven't run into this very often, but it
strikes me as, well, unconscionable that there *isn't* one, given that
apple has no intention of supporting a full featured script editor.

If they seriously tried to give Script Editor feature parity with the
alternatives, then I could understand it, but Apple seems to be
encouraging anyone with more than minimal scripting needs to use other
software for the purpose. Given that it's kind of a PITA to have SE
hard coded into things.
