This might not be quite the right group for this, but if not hopefully
someone in similar shoes, or someone from apple, can point me in the right
direction.
I'm trying to execute a script from a webpage, that at the moment is created
via PHP. My preference is to build a PHP extension that can keep the
script resident and execute it when called, but there seems to be NOBODY
with Mac OS X experience really adding onto PHP.
So, my next thought was whether anyone has found a 'reasonably fast' method
for executing a script that wants to in some cases return a value (string)
back to the PHP code for dyanmic page creation? Is there a direct way from
PHP? Can I run a script as a command-line 'app' via the un*x shell and get
back the result (which PHP could support, but I don't know if compiled
scriptlets work in that kind of schema)? Can I hook up Applescripts as 'CGI
handlers', which again I could somehow get PHP to call and parse the
results?
Thanks in advance for any leads, and again apologies where this may not be
quite the right group.
A completely different question, if anyone from Apple >is< listing (<grin>),
can DVD playback under OSX be scripted at all? I can get music and CDs via
iTunes, more audio and video via QT Player, but haven't seen anything on DVD
player scripting (even under OS9).
