From Standard Additions, this should work:

set myFile to choose file
set fileName to name of (info for myFile)

On further examination of your question, which is not very handy when half of it is in the subject line and the other half is in the body of the message, I have probably misinterpreted what you want.

Do you want the title which is within the HTML code? If so, I'll back out and let some of the parsing experts take over.
