Mail (OS X app) has been particularly buggy to script.
I'll try to post all the problems I've found out at a later time, right
now, I found one that beats all the other bugs.

tell app "Mail" to set l to email addresses of every account
l
---> {{application "Mail", {"address 1"}, {"address 2"}, {"address
3"},..., { last address }}}

What is app Mail doing there?
according to the dictionary " email addresses list [r/o] -- The list
of email addresses configured for an account"

It'll return 'current application' when there is no value returned, so for any of your accounts that don't have an email address associated with it will return 'application "Mail"', including Personal Mailboxes, which Mail considers an account.

This is a bug, obviously.
