Greetings.
The modem in my G4 is going to waste. I want to use it to dial phone
numbers from within documents (usually web pages). I don't want
anything fancy like a creating a voice mail system. Rather, If I read
a review about a fascinating doo-dad, I want to highlight some text
and click a button, pull a menu, or use contextual menus to dial the
blasted phone number.
1-I Presume all serial port additions have been rendered useless. Right?
2-Are there any Scripting Additions for controlling/dialing my
internal modem (not a serial port)?
3-Has anyone created an Apple Data Detector for phone numbers?
I have tried:
I don't understand the syntax for the various serial port additions
(Serial Port Commands, Serial/Modem).
I can't find AcidJazz
Black Night dials just fine, but trying their sample script fails to
find a serial port.
FileMaker works fine for dialing, but doesn't offer much control and
requires having another app open.
Zterm dials fine, but is not scriptable.
QuicKeys no longer supports their extension for dialing a phone #.
And I long ago lost it when upgrading.
QuicKeys can control these various apps, but is less then elegant.
And requires an open app.
I'd really like a pure AppleScript solution.
5-Is this possible?
6-If not, what do you suggest?
Thanks,
