Thanks for that hint, it will now give me the error message

| cat: /Users/ssp/Desktop/Bla\314\210: no such file or directory

Playing around a bit more, I observed that in the terminal window
pressing Backspace _once_ after 'Bla\314\210' will cleverly delete the
whole \210 bit and in particular, tpying the name myself (instead of
using the autocompletion of tcsh) will give the same error message.

This probably means that I'll have to start from scratch as far as
passing non-trivial characters to the do script command is concerned.
