Yes. I tried this* and of course, you are absolutely right. Not that I ever
doubted your word ;)
If you don't mind clarifying for me (I'm documenting this for future
reference), what is a v3-style or v4-style name? I guess I'm thrown off by
the use of the word "style". Are you referring to using the Script Manager
XT in the different versions, or is there some difference in the actual
naming? Am I just missing the point entirely?
*FTR: I do not have version 3.x.x to test. I'm using 4.11 Manually, I
created a new document containing 2 text boxes. Named them via Script
Manager's Item Names. Ran a script to get the names. Everything was fine. I
changed the names, again via Script Manager, and the script noted the
changes. However, I then changed the names using a script and Script Manager
did not recognise the change. Furthermore, I changed the names one more time
via Script Manager and the script reported the previous names (the ones that
were set via applescript) All in all it was very ugly and confusing.
So, Thank You Shane, for pointing this out. I'm retracting that whole "neat
feature" statement entirely - for anybody following this thread - though I
can't say I'm discouraged from using it for running scripts. And I guess
with careful consideration, it could be used initially for setting the
names.
Best intentions,
