Actually, the module has been written. It's in OSX Server. I'm just asking
Apple to include it in OSX standard. Creating another module just invites
conflicts and problems.
What is really needed more is an OSX replacement for the following (since
WebSTAR and OSX Server CGI would benefit from it).
From Tanaka's osax (
http://mtlab.ecn.fpu.ac.jp/tanaka_osax.html):
MT decode URL
MT encode URL
MT Parse CGI (except make "field name true" the default)
MT Pack CGI
From ACME parse args 1.0b6:
ACME Lookup Field
I can't imagine this would be hard for someone who already knows C++. I can
emulate them in Applescript pretty easily, but it is painfully slow.
Stability and speed are absolutely necessary.
Quote me a price Joe. Does anyone know where I can put out a call for pro
grammers to bid on this project? It really is the sort of thing which should
be open source.

I was referring to the abysmal stability of systems 7.5.x, which garnered
Apple a sadly well deserved reputation of making computers which crashed.
Ultimately the bugs were worked out, and IMO the stability improvements to
the classic MacOS up to 9.1 have been absolutely phenomenal, but the price
paid (huge loss of market share and drop from an $11 billion company to a sub
$6 billion company) was extremely high. Apple could not survive the same
thing again.
