It's executing data (probably, although I suppose there's a chance its PPC
code) as 680x0 code. Something has--as you've noticed--gone terribly
wrong. CHK is a data testing instruction which is in the instruction set
to aid in Pascal run time value checking.

I only have one not-very-good idea as to a possible cause: is all the
AppleScript "equipment" the Mac OS 8.6 version (it should be unless you've
been "improving" things)?
