You can happily have multiple versions installed -- I have 8 and 9, as well
as 10. If you do the install for 10 while in X, it will install it so that
you can use it from either X or 9.x.

FWIW, I've found that my scripts run slower in 10 under Classic, but better
in 10 on X.
