width of Dialog?

I was playing around with a script in OS X (not using AppleScript
Studio, just the regular ol' Script Editor) and I was dispalying some
error checking in a dialog.
You know display dialog "Variable 1: " & variable_one type stuff and
I was having trouble aprsing what I was seeing because of the line
wrapping in the very small dialog.
Is there a way to make the dialog area wider? Or is there something
else I should od (the data I was showing was between 50-150
characters, and I wanted it lined up with the other lines, like thus:
variable 1: 12345678901234567890123456789012345678901234567890
variable 2: 12345678901234567890123456789012345678991234567890
etc... making it easier to spot differences in the data.
Also, while I'm here, Is there a "password" setting for an input
dialog (that is, a setting so that the input is not echoed but
replaced with *'s or something?
