For those interested, I finally decided the number of hours invested wasn't
worth the nightmare for now and downgraded back to OS 9.2.1 (& AppleScript
1.6) from a back-up. Everything works flawlessly again :)
Meanwhile, it might be noted that using the get info for call can be used
sans the ending colon sucessfully for folders without issues...
