What's the best scriptable app for graphs?

Hi, just after a bit of advice.
I have a big Filemaker database and I need to generate a monthly report from
the data. Rather than do this manually I'd like to AppleScript it so graphs,
charts etc are generated from the data. Pulling the data out of the database
isn't a problem, however, generating the graphs is.
I was wondering what program you folks would recommend for generating the
graphs? I have Illustrator 9 but as far as I can see from the dictionary the
graph function isn't scriptable (unless I'm getting confused).
Of course, its do-able in Illustrator by drawing the graphs manually but
that seems a bit over the top.
Anyone solved a similar problem? Any advice gratefully received!
