Am I delusional?
I recently re-installed my OS X setup from scratch (not a task to be taken
lightly), and changed the way my stuff was organized. I'm still catching up
with a few personal scripts that look for things in places that no longer
exist.
One of these scripts runs at Login and opens items that have aliases in a
specified folder, stored in a property at the top of the script (property
startupItems : alias "Volume:Folder:File").
During the shake-up I blitzed that folder, so the script needed editing.
When I opened it, I was surprised to see that the 'startupItems'
variable/property still pointed to a valid alias. It hadn't magically found
the location of the new folder, instead, it had reverted to the value it had
in a previous life.
To explain: the script was duplicated from a much older script that I used
with OS 8/9 (and still use during antidiluvian jaunts to sync with AvantGo
and partake in other sundry X-averse activities), which also points to a
personal startup items folder. It was to this location - my OS 9 startup
items folder - that the alias stored in the property 'startupItems' in my OS
X script was now pointing.
Is that at all feasible? Would a property that has lost track of an alias
revert to a previously stored value? Or am I imagining things...
