Trapping for a network error

Anyone know how to trap for a network error such as "server not found" in OS
X? In OS 9 I would get different error numbers back if I tried to use Mount
Volume with the wrong password or if the server was offline. Now I just get
a generic AppleShare error. Is there an error code buried somewhere I can
use to trap for this type of problem and let my user know what has happened?
