Learning apple script...

I am just now getting basics down as I am learning applescript. However, I
am unable to open tutorials as they are installed into help files. These are
the tutorials available from apple via software update disk for OS 9.2.1.
The error says the files require help viewer 1.2. I believe I am running
1.6.1. Any suggestions?
