Hello Nigel,
Below is a quote from 'cricket' (very charming Apple engineer)
which was sent to this list a while back. The basic answer is
NO until Jaguar jumps onto the scene. I've made a request for
Mail to be able to "get the selection" through the feedback form
<
http://www.apple.com/macosx/feedback/>. However, this is not
quite the same thing as your request to "get" the selected
message. What I need is the selection in the current message
body. If I could get that reliably, I'd be a _very_ happy
camper.

In the next release of Mail (late summer), you will be able to
get the selected messages using the 'selection' property on the
application object. In 10.1.x, this is not yet implemented.

Hi,
I can get so far as to get a reference to the list of messages
in a mailbox,
but what I would like to do is run a script on the selected
message in a
mailbox.
trying "set theSubject to get subject of first message of mailbox of
theAccount" is ok
trying "set theSubject to get subject of selected message of mailbox of
theAccount" gives an error
Any hints?
Nigel.
