The reason why it has taken so long for a non-beta update to be released is
equally obviously that this time they want to nail every single bug they
possibly can. This is going to be the "final" AS for OS 9.x, and has also
been tuned up with the latest, improved CarbonLib. they really want to get
it right. That should be applauded.
Oh, there's a concept: an operating system! Someone should sneak that
idea into conversation with the OSX team.
Just be patient a little while longer,
God, that's funny! You really do have a broad sense of humour. I
haven't laughed like that in a while.
Pardon my cynicism. I've been using OSX - is that sufficient reason
to mock Apple's most recent software efforts? It's just so hard to
avoid comparisons between OSX/Aqua and the Unix core, after all,
they're sitting side-by-side and Unix works (I do like that). Of
course, system 6 had a better UI than Terminal (yes, preferable to
Aqua too).
There's just too much evidence around showing how different business
cycless are from software development cycles. Software developers may
use the words "an operating system" as an idealistic mantra,
something to aim for. In the business cycle, "bugs" mean "business as
usual," "improve the bottom line," "shareholders' index of
profitability" or some such thing.
