Eric,

I publish a shareware app called Script Timer that will do what you want.
You can just write your script to delete all files in the folder and then
schedule Script Timer to run it when you want - in your case every Saturday.
With Script Timer taking care of all the timing details, it will be very
simple and short.

Just click on the Shareware and Freeware button on the web site below. The
latest version of Script Timer works in OS 9.2.1 (and 9.2.2 if you downgrade
to AppleScript 1.6) and OS X. There is an older version for older versions
down to OS 7.5.5.
