Creating a login log for Multiple Users

We are going to setup Multiple Users on our OS 9 Macs. One thing we
would like to do is have each computer keep a log of who logs in and at
what time. I haven't had any luck finding an option to turn on a log in
the Multiple User control panel. Is there one? Failing that, would it be
possible to write an Applescript that would activate after login and
create (and append to after it's been created) a file with the name of
the user and the time of login? Where would I look to find that
information? Or is there a shareware or freeware app that would do the
same thing. Buying AppleShare IP or OS X Server is out of the question.
I've searched the Apple k-base without luck. I'd appreciate it if
someone could help me.
Thanks,
Bert Knabe
