I haven't even started writing the script yet but hope to save some time with a
bit of planning...:-), e.g. being told that this can't realistically be done.
Scenario: for years I have been lazy enough not to note publishers in my
bibliography. Karma has arrived and I now need to note these for about 400
entries. I can grab the titles via Applescript but also want to look them up on
the library catalogue at
<
http://lib.sas.ac.uk/search/t>
which should yield the pertinent info for manual grabbing.
Alternatively the catalogue is available via telnet at
lib.sas.ac.uk OR 193.62.18.239.
This might be easier, or harder, to script via Terminal (so now you know I'm
running OS X).
I have little idea where to start here: I assume different browsers are more or
less suited to this; and how does one insert text into a form on a web page?
About this I know absolutely nothing.
I realise I am violating the general principle that it is more agreeable to post
a failing script than ask for it to be written but I really have no idea of the
internal structure of web pages beyond a few tags so even reading the Scripting
Dictionary doesn't help much. 'paste' doesn't work unless you click in the input
box. So my apologies for that infelicity and my gratitude for any help that
might be forthcoming.
