You need a good long web page to cause the stack overflow. one with
a bunch of tables would be good, since it is the number of '<'s that
determines the stack size (and tables have a lot of ancillary code
per text element, generally).
Using the chunk method seems to prevent the stack overflow, at least
on the 80K html I threw at it.
