Thanks to everyone for the recommendations on decomposing a b&w graphic. I
have stumbled, through the pointers of Mr. Tea and Roger Howard onto a
solution that would have eluded me permanently otherwise -- Graphic Converter
supports an ASCII text format to save B&W graphics, thus creating a pure text
file!
