Hi all:
Is it possible to have a folder action on a shared folder and have that action work on other users desktops?
We have a Mac server which is being shared out. On the server we have a folder which we want to attach a folder action to (it validates file names and moves the files to correct locations based on those names), have users mount the server and drag and drop files into the folder.
So far I've only had success with opening the shared folder on my hard drive and attaching the folder action from my hard drive. If I do either of these:
1. Attach the folder action to the shared folder on the server
or
2. Attach the folder action to the shared folder from my hard drive, however the folder action is on located on the server
the folder action doesn't work on my hard drive.
Of course attaching the FA from my hard drive to a shared folder means the FA only works on my hard drive. I'm hoping that I am doing some procedural thing wrong here and there is a way to do this. Otherwise I am looking at a maintenance pain as I have 40+ users and each will need a folder with the attached script on their individual drives. Any help would be appreciated.
