Applescript to launch a Classic application?

  • Subject: Applescript to launch a Classic application?

Back in the day, I had an Applescript that ran at startup which launched
all of my frequently-used applications at startup.

Login items would seem to take care of this in OS X, but sadly not for
the most time consuming of the bunch, a Classic application essential to
my very existence (Alpha, that is.)

After I figured out the copy/paste problems that appear when Classic (or
a Classic application) is started at login, I thought to try something
similar to my OS 9 setup -- but this time, an Applescript with a comfy
pause so the machine could settle in, then launch the applications I
wanted, hopefully working around this rather massive login items bug.

The trouble is, the scripts I wrote (variants of the scripts I'd used in
OS 9) caused kernel panics, the only time OS X has ever done that to me.

Being rather not fond of kernel panics, I gave up after about the third
try. Enough time has passed that I'm thinking about this again. What
*is* the "right" way to launch Classic/a Classic application
(specifically, Alpha) with an Applescript in OS X?

(My scripting skills are severely limited, as you might guess.)

Thanks,
David Craig
