Is your droplet stationery aware?

  • Subject: Is your droplet stationery aware?

Here's a quick quiz: pick the droplet (or droplets) you use most often and
ask yourself -- will the behavior be correct (i.e. what you expected) if a
stationery file is dropped on it?

Of course, the second question is, do you know what happens when a
stationery file is dropped on a droplet? Yes that's right, Finder makes a
copy of the stationery file and sends an alias of the copy to your droplet.
So ask yourself -- is that the behavior you expected?

I'm going to collect everyone's answers in a nice table and present the
results. If everyone says that their durrent droplets would behave
incorrectly, then Apple might think about classifying this as a bug (the fix
is really easy). Please don't clog the list with your responses: send them
to me at email@hidden.

For you hackers out there: if you want to change the current behavior of
your droplets to be stationery aware, there is a bit you must twiddle in the
FInfo structure, which can be done with ResEdit or Resourcerer.
