Not that I can see, but looking in the AppleWorks dictionary, I see
something that should work, here it is:

Class named range: a user-defined range of cells
Plural form:
named ranges
Elements:
cell by name, by numeric index
row by name, by numeric index, as a range of elements
column by name, by numeric index, as a range of elements
named range by name, as a range of elements
Properties:
name string -- the name of the range
object specifier reference [r/o] -- specifier designating the object

A named range in a spreadsheet limits the function to a specific set of
cells. Does that make sense, and/or would you like more detail to see
how it is used in an AW spreadsheet? I'm new to scripting, (as you can
see from my other posts) but I know AppleWorks very well, and am glad to
help out.

Best wishes,

Russ Conte

hi russ,
if you could provide more details it would be appreciated, i have yet to have much luck with this when creating
a new blank sheet.. i had some joy for a sheet that was already populated and wanted to refer to particular set of
rows but using it to define the sheet in the first place escapes me...

thanks
paul
