GoLive's AppleScript implementation is odd, there is no doubt about that.
And its oddness tends to make it more than a little frustrating. I tried a
few small scripts, only to give up. But I did learn a few things.
Many of the commands require that you be in the source mode. It can't be
split screen either, it has to be the main window. Also, many commands don't
obey expectations. However, there is a Do Script event, which allows you to
tie into GL's SDK.
I've found QuicKeys X and GoLive 6 to be near flawless together. I use a
number of scripts to manipulate GoLive hundreds of times a day, and it works
just fine. What I do is embed little AppleScript commands in QuicKeys to
grab info from various apps, then use simple macros to paste the data into
GoLive. On other thing that might be helpful: one of the reasons QuicKeys is
effective with GoLive is that there is a keyboard shortcut for nearly every
task inside GoLive.
My macro tasks I used to be done with OneClick and GoLive 4 under OS 9. One
of the problems with that setup was timing: I had to use pauses effectively
and the scripts usually would break if I moved them to a different machine.
However I've had none of those problems with since moving to GL, QK, and X.
Sadly, none of these hacks would be necessary of GoLive supported
AppleScript more effectively.
