okay, I got the mount volume to work with an afp:// url, however the Microsoft UAM is causing the problem now, as I was able to log into my ExtremeZ-IP (using Apple's built in UAM) with no problem. Anyone know of ANY way around this...a little history
On the Microsoft Server you can set authentication type. This Can be Apple only (clear text up to 8 character passwords) Apple and Microsoft (you get prompted when you try to connect from the client) or Microsoft only (support up to full length passwords with encryption).
If you have it set for Microsoft only, you need to have the Microsoft UAM installed (which I do) and you DO NOT get prompted for which UAM to use, it strictly uses the Microsoft UAM. I wish to use this UAM for the obvious reason that we are a mixed platform network and I want my users to have one password that can be over 8 characters if needed, and I want the security.
Anyone have any suggestions on an addition that might accomplish this?
Thank you.

Subject: Mounting Shares
I want to be able to define a server and share in a script, prompt for a name and password, then mount the share, and return an error if either the share is not available or the account info is wrong.
Can this be achieved with the standard Apple script, or is there any additions that will help?
Also The shares are Services for Macintosh using the MS UAM....this is important as it supports longer passwords, other volumes are ExtremeZ-IP which uses the Apple DHX UAM (built into Appleshare) that achieves the same thing. Any ideas?
Also is there a way I can allow users to change their password? If this means simply using the script to query the chooser to mount the Share and have the user use the standard Name and password box, that is fine too....
Thanks
-Mike
