Would you care to write a bug on this? No one else ever has that I can

Done. I filed it for X and for 9, the reference is "#2930486"
The bug text is
Script applications have the ability to find their location using "path to
me"
When the script is run as an applet, this returns the path to the script.
However, when run in Script Editor, path to me unhelpfully returns the path
to the Script Editor. This is inconsistent with the run-time behavior, as
has been recognised and correct in Smile and Script Debugger.
It is a major hindrance to users trying to build complex scripts that need
to refer to local resources.
It means debugging gives different results than running for scripts.
Several applications also support this coercion of path to me into path to
script (i.e., PsyScript, OSA menu).
