Getting the configuration method of an active interface

Okay, so before I submit this as a bug...

IS there a way to get the configuration method of an interface?

I can find out which network interface is up, and whether or not it has an
active inet (TCP/IP) configuration.

What I need to do is find out if that config is DHCP/Manual/PPPoE, etc.
