Moving windows

Is there a way to move the frontmost window (no matter which application it belongs to)?

I would like to write scripts to move a window to the left/right/top/bottom/center for use in OS X.

I did this in OS 9 with KeyQuencer but, unfortuntely, this is not being upgraded to OS X, and the alternative QuicKeys for OS X has a far inferior set of capabilities.
