Hi list,

[snip] the app just hangs when that code is called (I mean spinning beachball).

How long does the spinning cursor appear (network timeouts may be quite long)?
At first (and quick) glance, your script seems to be correct.
Could it be that something more basic should be checked first?
You know, those obvious things such as: Can you ping your other machine? Are every settings needed for program linking correctly set on both machines? :-)

I'll just put it this way:
*something* on my machine (the client) was seriously b0rked. I installed 10.2.2 and then wasn't able to open half my apps. Probably had something to do with the fact that my /Applications was a symlink to a folder on another partition, but anyway... back to my AS problem.
I backed up my documents & mail, etc, wiped my hard drive clean, reinstalled 10.2, updated immediately to 10.2.2, installed Dev Tools, and amazingly, the program works.
Alex, et. al., thanks for the pointers in the mean time :)

Back to your regularly scheduled scripting.
