scripting Bluetooth/Address Book

Hi,

I have been looking all over the internet for this one including this list's archives. Perhaps what I want to do is not currently possible.

I have a Filemaker contact management system. On good ol' system 9 this allowed me to click a button next to the contact's name to dial the contact through the Mac's internal modem connected to the phone line. Field's would record the contact's id, the time, date and duration of the call and allow the user to select a dialling prefix. Another field allows notes relating to that phone call to be taken while the conversation is taking place.

With OS X all that has changed. However, so has the business environment. Nowadays I make more phone calls using my mobile phone, which is a SonyEricsson t68i on Orange (UK). Apple's clever Address Book app together with Jaguar's bluetooth implementation allows me to dial them from Address Book in a similar way to my old contact management solution. The problem is that Address Book isn't all that extensible. I would have to deal with two apps simultaneously to get the functionality I want and that's quite aside from all the data synchronisation issues.

What would be ideal (obviously) would be to employ an applescript embedded within my Filemaker solution to obtain the number I wish to dial together with any access codes, initiate the phone call over bluetooth and take me to my nice familiar phone call notes screen.

Are any clever applescripters out there aware of a way that I can access the same bluetooth dialling functionality as is obtainable via Address Book, either by addressing Address Book in the Applescript (I don't mind synchronising Filemaker's contacts with Address Book's if that helps) or indeed addressing the bluetooth functionality at a system level?

Looking forward to receiving any suggestions anybody might have.

Tommy Beavitt

PS. It would be great to choose EITHER to dial over bluetooth/mobile or internal modem/fixed line...
