Applescript Home Directory

I need to delete a preference file from users home directory when before they launch Word. Is there a way to set up a generic script that will look in a person's home directory out on the Microsft server using AD to connect. Every user has their own home directory that nneds to be accessed by the same script Any ideas? Is this doable and what is the syntax I use to access their home directory? Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.
